Our Story

Justice House of Prayer DC, an evangelical missions organization, serves Washington, DC and the nation through ongoing prayer, worship and strategic activism. We are committed to pray for national leaders as we seek spiritual transformation and cultural reformation to be established from the governmental gate of our nation’s capital. In faith, we declare, “There is a holy hill above Capitol Hill.”

THE BEGINNING

In 2004, the Lord led Lou Engle and a large group of young people to journey from Colorado Springs to fast and pray in Washington, DC with a focus on the upcoming elections. An ongoing chorus of prayer and worship was birthed from those initial 40 days; the Justice House of Prayer DC was born. Matt Lockett and his wife Kim, who now direct JHOP DC, followed soon after with their family.

WHO DEFINES US

Our hope is in Jesus Christ, the one whom Scripture declares “the desire of all nations” (Haggai 2:7). He is worthy of our extravagant love and devotion. Unceasing ministry to the Lord is the center of all we do, the platform for unity and spiritual authority in all activities.

LOCAL COMMUNITY

Strategically located only blocks away from the Supreme Court and the U.S. Capitol, Justice House of Prayer DC facilitates corporate prayer, teaching and training through young adult internships and a growing community of intercessors. The prayer room is open to the public during regularly scheduled hours.

NATIONAL AND GLOBAL VISION

By fueling spiritual revolutionaries who champion cultural reformation through lifelong commitments, JHOP DC helps shape America’s future. We pray for God’s wisdom as leaders address critical issues such as religious liberty, national security, the persecuted church and policies to protect the unborn. The impact reaches globally as God leads us to cultivate relationships across America and in strategic nations.
